Republican Bob Stefanowski conceded the race for governor about 9 a.m. on Wednesday after late returns from the state’s cities pushed Lamont to victory. “A few moments ago, I called Ned Lamont to concede the race for governor and congratulate him on a hard-fought victory,’’ Stefanowski said in a statement. How Stefanowski Has Closed In On Lamont In 'Real Nail-Biter' Governor's Race
A new public opinion poll released on Tuesday, Oct. 30 confirms that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski has closed on Democrat Ned Lamont, making the race a statistical tossup. The Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters found that Lamont’s lead over Stefanowski has shrunk by half to four percentage points, within the margin of error. It also found that last week's undecided voters are beginning to make up their minds about who to elect on Nov. 6. Only four percent of likely voters remain undecided in the Quinnipiac poll, but 13 percent of those who preferred a candidat…

Nixon Sees Path To Albany Statehouse After Primary Shocker
Long-shot gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon capitalized on Tuesday's stunning upset of New York Democratic powerbroker and U.S. Rep. Joe Crowley, saying it shows voters are open to rejecting incumbents across the state. "What a truly special night!" Nixon, best known as the TV actor from "Sex And The City," wrote on Twitter: "Excited to have spent it with @Ocasio2018 celebrating her historic win." Nixon, an education activist seeking to defeat Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was referring to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the victorious 28-year-old political newcomer. On …

Early Poll Shows Who NY Voters Favor In Cuomo-Nixon Race
There's plenty of time to go, of course, but the first indication of how the June Democratic gubernatorial primary may turn out is now in. Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New Castle enjoys a commanding 47 percentage point lead over actress Cynthia Nixon. However, his lead narrows substantially among the most enthusiastic voters, according to the NBC 4 New York/Marist Poll. Cuomo leads Nixon of New York City by 68 to 21 percent among registered voters, according to the poll released on Thursday, April 12. Among voters who consider themselves "highly enthusiastic" to vote in the primary, Cuo…
