Waterbury Student Caught With Gun In Backpack At School: Police
A 17-year-old student was arrested after police say he brought a gun to Waterbury Career Academy. Other students told police the teen might have a gun on Friday, Nov. 7. Officers said they learned some students had known about it the day before. The school went into a shelter-in-place as officers moved in. Within minutes, police said the school resource officer and other officers found the student and detained him. Students, alumni, and faculty at the University of Pennsylvania received a vulgar, inflammatory email from a hacker on Friday, Oct. 31, the university confirmed. Parents in Southington are on alert after a broken pill capsule containing fentanyl was found outside Urbin T. Kelley Elementary School, authorities said. A school bus carrying 14 high school students was involved in a crash with a passenger vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 1.
